I am now going to disable the Opera Browser Assistant and see what happens. browser_assistant.exe should be writable now.
Running assistant installer with command line “C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\.opera\ABFF9DD35FC3\CProgram Files (x86)Operaassistant\installing\assistant_installer.exe” –install –autoupdate –installfolder=”C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\assistant” –silent –launchopera=0 In the Windows\Temp directory I found file entries like this with timestamp 18.45 normally:Īssistant_installer_20201109184605.log containing: Now I found that it obviously is started by the Opera Browser assistant. Uninstall/reinstall hasnt fixed it either. On the occasions it does open it works well. Sometimes it does after a number of attempts but its highly inconsistent and frustrating. Same goes for the desktop icon even through the windows start menu. It turned out that it normally comes up every day at time 18.49 in the evening and is catched by the Avira virus scanner. When I click on my Opera GX in the Taskbar it doesnt open. I have the TR/AD.FireHooker.BU on my system, which is difficult to remove.
